As for Issue 04, the Floorplan presents the dialogue with Markus Miesen which was originally included in Framing Floorplans. Miessen talks about the online and offline as spaces and examines the ways in which online could function as a dynamic space for both encounters and conflicts.
Born in Bonn in 1978, Markus Miessen is a German architect and writer. His PhD was completed at the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2015 and he is currently a Full Professor in Design at the Academy of Design (HDK), University of Gothenburg, Sweden. As the initiator of the Participation tetralogy, Miessen’s work revolves around questions of critical spatial practice, institution building, and spatial politics. He is best known for his theory of tactical intervention coined ‘Crossbenching’, which is published by Sternberg Press & Merve, 2016. Also, at Studio Miessen, he oversees all projects as principal architect and director. Miessen’s work has been published and exhibited widely, including at the Venice, Manifesta, Istanbul, Lyon, Gwangju, and Shenzhen Biennials.
